Health and Medicine (Salud y Medicina) Objectives By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: Identify and use Spanish vocabulary related to health and medical terms. Describe symptoms and illnesses in Spanish. Understand and use phrases related to medical appointments. Vocabulary Body Parts: cabeza (head), brazo (arm), pierna (leg), estómago (stomach), etc. Common Illnesses: gripe (flu), resfriado (cold), alergia (allergy), fiebre (fever), etc. Medical Treatments: medicina (medicine), vacuna (vaccine), cirugía (surgery), etc. Healthcare Facilities: hospital, clínica (clinic), farmacia (pharmacy), consultorio (doctor's office), etc. Phrases Me duele la cabeza. (My head hurts.) Tengo fiebre. (I have a fever.) Necesito medicina. (I need medicine.) Tengo una cita con el doctor. (I have a doctor's appointment.) Exercises NOTE: These exercises will be handed out at the end of the lesson. Vocabulary Quiz: Test your knowledge of the new vocabulary with a multiple-choice quiz. Symptom Matching: Match Spanish symptom phrases with their English translations. Role Play: Practice using your new vocabulary in context by playing the role of a patient describing symptoms to a doctor, or a pharmacist advising on medication. Writing Exercise: Write a short paragraph describing a time when you were ill, using the new vocabulary and phrases. By the end of this lesson, you'll have a solid understanding of health and medicine vocabulary in Spanish, which will be extremely useful in real-life situations.
