Lesson 5: The House - Part 2 Introduction Welcome to Lesson 5! In this lesson, we will continue our exploration of the house, focusing on furniture and appliances. This will enable you to describe your living space in more detail. Learning Objectives By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: Understand and use vocabulary related to furniture and appliances in Spanish. Describe your house or apartment using furniture and appliances vocabulary. Use expressions to talk about the location of items in your house. Lesson Content Part 1: Vocabulary for Furniture and Appliances Let's start by learning some vocabulary related to furniture and appliances: "El sofá" (The sofa) "La silla" (The chair) "La mesa" (The table) "La cama" (The bed) "El armario" (The wardrobe) "La nevera" / "El refrigerador" (The refrigerator) "El horno" (The oven) "La lavadora" (The washing machine) Part 2: Describing Your House or Apartment Next, we'll learn how to describe your house or apartment using this new vocabulary: "En mi dormitorio, hay una cama grande y un armario." (In my bedroom, there is a big bed and a wardrobe.) "La cocina tiene una nevera y un horno." (The kitchen has a refrigerator and an oven.) Part 3: Talking About the Location of Items Finally, we'll learn some expressions to talk about the location of items in your house: "El [furniture/appliance] está en [room]." (The [furniture/appliance] is in the [room].) For example: "El sofá está en la sala." (The sofa is in the living room.) "El [furniture/appliance] está al lado de / entre / detrás de / delante de [furniture/appliance]." (The [furniture/appliance] is next to / between / behind / in front of [furniture/appliance].) For example: "La mesa está al lado de la silla." (The table is next to the chair.) Practice Activity Write a paragraph describing your house or apartment using the new vocabulary and expressions from this lesson. Remember to include the location of different pieces of furniture and appliances. Assessment At the end of the lesson, there will be a quiz to assess your understanding of the vocabulary and phrases learned in this lesson.
