Lesson 1: Food and Drinks (Comidas y Bebidas) Objectives: By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: √ Identify and use Spanish vocabulary related to food and drinks. √Use vocabulary to order food and drinks in a restaurant setting. Vocabulary: √ Food - Comida √ Drink - Bebida √ Breakfast - Desayuno √ Lunch - Almuerzo √ Dinner - Cena √ Snack - Merienda √ Meat - Carne √ Fish - Pescado √ Vegetables - Verduras √ Fruits - Frutas √ Bread - Pan √ Cheese - Queso √ Water - Agua √ Wine - Vino √ Beer - Cerveza √ Coffee - Café √ Tea - Té √ Juice - Jugo Phrases: √ I'm hungry - Tengo hambre √ I'm thirsty - Tengo sed √ I would like... - Quisiera... √ May I have the menu, please? - ¿Podría darme el menú, por favor? √ What do you recommend? - ¿Qué me recomienda? √ I am vegetarian/vegan - Soy vegetariano/vegano √ Can I have the bill, please? - ¿Puede traerme la cuenta, por favor? Activities: √ Flashcards: Practice the vocabulary words with flashcards, making sure to practice both the Spanish term and its English equivalent. √ Role Play: Pair up with a classmate and practice a restaurant scenario. Take turns being the customer and the waiter. Use the vocabulary and phrases learnt in this lesson to communicate. √ Vocabulary Quiz: At the end of the lesson, there will be a short quiz to test your understanding and memory of the new vocabulary. Homework: √ Vocabulary Practice: Write five sentences in Spanish using the vocabulary and phrases learned in the lesson. √ Reading Practice: Visit a Spanish-language restaurant's website. Try to understand the menu using the vocabulary you've learned.
