Level A1 for Spanish according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) has the following main features: √ Basic vocabulary related to personal information (name, age, family, work, etc), shopping, place of residence, environment. Around 300-500 words. √ Basic grammar: present indicative (to be, to have, to live, etc), gender and number (masculine/feminine, singular/plural), personal pronouns, expressions of quantity (numbers, a lot/little, etc). √ Very basic listening and reading comprehension: instructions, directions, personal information, numbers, prices. Very short and simple texts. √ Speaking: introducing oneself, greeting, saying name, age, where one lives, describing basic things (colour, size), ordering in shops/restaurants. Short, isolated sentences. √ Oral interaction: greetings, introductions, basic questions and answers about personal information and immediate needs. √ Written expression: filling in a simple form with personal details, numbers and dates. Simple sentences. This is a very basic level focusing on everyday tasks and meeting immediate communication needs. The student has a very limited repertoire and control of the language. Lessons Day 1: Introductions and getting to know classmates The alphabet and basic pronunciation Greetings and everyday phrases Day 2: Subject pronouns and the verb "SER" Present indicative of regular verbs (HABLAR, COMER, to VIVIR...) Basic adjectives (big, small, pretty...) Day 3: The verbs "TENER" and "ESTAR" Vocabulary about family Possessives (my, your, his/her...) Day 4: Numbers 1-100 Vocabulary related to time, days, months Daily activities (to work, to study, to eat...) Day 5: Vocabulary about jobs and school Expressions of liking (I like, I don't like...) Listening comprehension activities Day 6: Vocabulary about the house, rooms and furniture There is/There are/ It is (Hay/están) Conversation activities Day 7: Vocabulary about the city, transportation Expressions of quantity (much/many, a lot...) Reading comprehension activities Day 8: Going to + infinitive for plans (IR A + INFINITIVO) Vocabulary about shops and restaurants Ordering food/drinks at a restaurant Day 9: General review Grammar and vocabulary exercises Written expression activities Day 10: Final review Course evaluation Cultural/leisure activities
