Learn Spanish with: Emilito's Christmas present
Hello to all Spanish students! How are you?
Today I am going to tell you a story that all of us friends remember very fondly and it is the story of when Emilito came to class wearing a green Adidas tracksuit.
Learn Spanish with: Emilito's Christmas present
He had never been very sporty although one day he showed up at school with a mini-basketball and a green and black Adidas tracksuit, it was quite a bad fit as he was chubby and his head was a bit bigger than normal but he was still so happy with his Christmas present.
Wearing tracksuits and cool sneakers was the aspiration back then for any neighborhood kid, it made you grow in status, you felt handsome and a bit more respected, and that's how our dear friend Emilito felt.
Emilito has been a very good boy all his life, today at almost 50 years old he is still as good as he was in the late eighties when he first came to our class from a private school in the next town. He had already developed a man's voice and was the only one in the class who shaved his mustache. If it weren't for his height he would have passed for any teacher in the school but he was still 12 years old.
That day we didn't have gym class but Emilito arrived with his tracksuit because it was the first day of school after the Christmas vacations and he thought it was appropriate to use the tracksuit and the mini-basketball for the first time, so with the ball under his arm and his tracksuit spotlessly clean he came to class like that, as happy as a kid with new shoes.
At recess at eleven in the morning we played basketball since we had the ball but it is true that we had never played basketball before and we didn't know the rules or anything, but since we had a ball to play with we wanted to know what it felt like or whatever, the truth is that it was a very rough game because it was more like rugby than basketball. After the recess we went to class and after class we went home to eat ..... And then came the good part, the bouncing ball game.
The bouncing ball game is a game in which one throws a ball or anything in the air saying one of the names of the participants and everyone has to run until the one who has been mentioned catches the ball and says PELOTA BOTANTE, then everyone has to stop and the one who has the ball has to throw it (to hurt) to any of the participants.
The game was not prepared that day although Joaquin, the son of the Boniato thought it was a good idea to improvise the game with a box he saw on the floor. There were 5 of us: Joaquín, Emilito, El Huevo, Danonino and I. Joaquín threw the box into the air without knowing what was inside and said Danonino's name out loud.
Suddenly we see how a can of black paint comes out of the box and from the can of black paint comes out precisely in the direction of Emilito. Poor thing! I do not know the exact amount of black paint that fell on that adidas tracksuit but seeing the tracksuit I would dare to say that it was more than a liter. Something more than a liter very well expanded all over the tracksuit, some of the face although the face was very well concealed with the mustache.
We didn't want to laugh but we did. Poor Emilito, now we laugh because now they wear this type of garments, pretending that they have been stained with paint.
