Learn Spanish with: The man who slept with his father-in-law
It was a late Friday night and Juan was exhausted after a long week of work. He just wanted to go home, eat something quick and pass out in his own bed. The problem was, he had stayed up too late the night before and his brain was fuzzy.

As Juan drove down the familiar street towards his house, his eyes started to get heavy. "Just a few more blocks," he told himself, trying to fight off sleep. But before he knew it, his car had slowed to a stop in front of a house.
Juan looked around, confused. This didn't look like his driveway. As he examined the house through sleepy eyes, it did seem vaguely familiar. But he couldn't quite place it. All he knew was that he was too tired to drive anymore.
Figuring he could deal with the misunderstanding in the morning, Juan turned off his car and grabbed his overnight bag from the backseat. He trudged up to the front door and tried the handle. To his surprise, it opened easily.
"Hello?" Juan called out tentatively as he entered. No response. The house seemed quiet and still. Juan tiptoed down the hall, peeking into rooms as he went. Finally, he spotted a made bed and sighed with relief.
Too exhausted to wonder whose bedroom he was trespassing in, Juan flopped onto the bed in his clothes. He was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
The next morning, Juan woke up disoriented. This wasn't his bedroom. Panic started to set in as the events of the previous night came rushing back. He jumped out of bed and raced to find his shoes.
That's when Juan heard voices downstairs. Familiar voices. He crept to the top of the stairs and peered over the railing. His father-in-law was in the kitchen, talking on the phone. Juan froze, mortified.
It all clicked into place - he must have accidentally driven to his in-laws house instead of his own. No wonder the place seemed familiar! Juan contemplated sneaking away before he was spotted, but it was too late.
"Juan, is that you?" Called his father-in-law, hanging up the phone. "Come on down, I've made breakfast."
Red-faced, Juan walked sheepishly into the kitchen. "Lo siento," he mumbled. "I must have been more tired than I thought last night. This is embarrassing."
To his surprise, his father-in-law just laughed. "It happens to the best of us. I'm just glad you're safe. Now eat up, I don't want you driving home on an empty stomach."
Juan stayed for breakfast, explaining how his week had worn him out. His father-in-law was very understanding. By the time Juan left to finally get home, he no longer felt so ashamed of the mix-up. And from that day on, his in-laws house felt even more like a home away from home.
