Word count
At the ab initio level, students are required to write a minimum of 50 words in section A (or
equivalents in languages without Latin alphabets). There is no penalty for writing below the minimum number of words required in section A.

Language
Examiners should note that not all errors are of equal importance.
Some errors significantly affect the communication of meaning and some do not. In addition,
