Introduction

Part 1: Vocabulary for Clothing

Let's start by learning some vocabulary related to clothing:

  • "La ropa" (The clothes)

  • "El sombrero" (The hat)

  • "La camisa" (The shirt)

  • "La blusa" (The blouse)

  • "El pantalón" (The pants)

  • "El vestido" (The dress)

  • "La falda" (The skirt)

  • "Los zapatos" (The shoes)

Part 2: Describing What You and Others Are Wearing

Next, we'll learn how to describe what you and others are wearing:

  • "Yo estoy usando [clothing item]." (I am wearing [clothing item].) For example: "Yo estoy usando una camisa roja." (I am wearing a red shirt.)

  • "Ella está usando [clothing item]." (She is wearing [clothing item].) For example: "Ella está usando un vestido verde." (She is wearing a green dress.)

Part 3: Shopping for Clothes

Finally, we'll learn some phrases to use when shopping for clothes:

  • "¿Cuánto cuesta [clothing item]?" (How much does [clothing item] cost?) For example: "¿Cuánto cuesta este sombrero?" (How much does this hat cost?)

  • "¿Tiene [clothing item] en [color]?" (Do you have [clothing item] in [color]?) For example: "¿Tiene estos zapatos en azul?" (Do you have these shoes in blue?)

  • "¿Dónde puedo encontrar [clothing item]?" (Where can I find [clothing item]?) For example: "¿Dónde puedo encontrar las faldas?" (Where can I find the skirts?)

Practice Activity

Write a paragraph describing what you are wearing today and what you would like to buy the next time you go shopping for clothes. Use the new vocabulary and phrases from this lesson.
